VoodooPad Description

A new kind of notepad: it's like having your own personal hypertext library VoodooPad is a new kind of notepad. It's like having your own personal hypertext library, where you can jot down notes, web addresses, to-do lists...Anything on your mind. VoodooPad automatically links each page together, to form a miniature world wide web, on your desktop! Anybody familiar with the WikiWikiWeb will feel right at home with VoodooPad.Type in your notes, and highlight important words or phrases to create new pages; or drag and drop folders, applications, or URLs into VoodooPad - they're linked up whenever the word representing it is found. You can export your VoodooPad library as html to share with others, or copy it to your iPod so you can view your library on the go. VoodooPad also includes a services menu- so you can select text in Safari (or any other application that supports services) and have it show up as an entry in VoodooPad. Here are some key features of "VoodooPad": Tabs: · Open pages in multiple tabs, all in the same window. Support for big documents: · Stuff gigabytes of data inside a VoodooPad document, it won't mind. Linkback: · Paste content from any LinkBack-enabled application into VoodooPad and reopen that content later for editing with just a double-click. Serve them up with a built in web server available in VoodooPad Pro. Print to VoodooPad PDF Service: · Print for any application as a PDF, and stick it in VoodooPad for safe keeping. Script Plugins: · Script Plugins are an easy way to extend the functionality of VoodooPad. Download new plugins or write your own. AddressBook Integration: · Type a name of a person in VoodooPad, and it becomes a link you can act on. Crazy Export Goodness: · No lock in! That's one of our favorite sayings. VoodooPad has 8 (EIGHT!) different ways for you to export or save your data. · Export to your iPod Notes folder for a wiki on the go. (for 3rd generation and up iPods). Export to your iPod Contacts folder (1st and 2nd generation iPods): Save as Microsoft Word documents: Export RTFD (Rich Text Format) files: Export as HTML, so you can view your wiki in a web browser, or ftp it to a website: XML Export: Split out pages into a brand new VoodooPad document: And finally, as good old plain text files: Autocomplete Page Names: · What was the name of that page again.. Voodoo.. something? Press Command-K to have VoodooPad lookup up the page name for you. · And you can also bring up the "Open Page.." sheet to bring forth autocomplete goodness. Just type in the beginning of any page and VoodooPad will find it for you. UNIX Scripting Geeks Wanted: · Whether it's Python, Perl, Ruby or any other of your favorite Unix scripting languages- VoodooPad can run it and display the results. Just type in a script and hit Command-R and the page will run as a script like you were at a terminal. VoodooPad works great as a script library. What's new? What have I looked at recently: · VoodooPad has "Recently Updated" and "Recently Viewed" Palettes to find out where you've been, and what you've been changing. iPod Note Navigation: · If you are the lucky owner of at least a 3rd generation iPod, then we've got some great news for you- You can export your VoodooPad document to your "iPod Notes" folder, and you can read and navigate your document just like you were running VoodooPad on your iPod. The same linked words show up for you to click on, and you can go from page to page just like you were using VoodooPad, only with an iPod scroll wheel instead of a mouse! AppleScript Support: · Command VoodooPad using the world's most insane language- AppleScript. Drag and Drop: · VoodooPad does some cool tricks with drag and drop. Drag and drop images into VoodooPad, it'll ask you wether to paste them into the page, or just link to the file. Even drag and drop URL's and images straight from Safari or any other browser! · Drop files, folders, and applications from the Finder- they will be linked up just like a regular VoodooPad page. Mac OS X Goodness: · VoodooPad takes advantage of cool Mac OS X features like sheets, Inkwell, Services, Toolbars, Spotlight, and OS X's Unix underpinnings. The Clippings Folder: · VoodooPad will create a folder in ~/Library/Application Support/VoodooPad/Clippings/ where you can place frequently used plain text files to insert into VoodooPad. It'll show up as a menu item under the Edit->Insert menu where you can choose to insert the text. And as a bonus, if the text file is executable then VoodooPad will try and run it as a Unix script, and insert the resulting output into the current page. Unicode: · VoodooPad supports Unicode, for all your multi-lingual needs. What's New in This Release: · Fixed a bug where VP would allow you to change the formatting of an encrypted page to plain text. · Fixed a bug where VP woudln't let you delete an encrypted page when it was currently un-encrypted. · Fixed a bug where VP would mess up an encrypted page if you used the Bucket to append text to it. · Fixed a problem where you couldn't change a document password in VoodooPad. · If a URL ends with a '.' or ',', it is no longer included in the link. While ending with a '.' or ',' is a valid url, it is much more common to have a URL at the end of a sentence or next to a comma, then to have a URL which ends with a '.' or ','. · Trying out a switch to the LLVM/Clang compiler. · Return of the Text Styles palette (just for Mike!). · VoodooPad will no longer override custom links. · For example- let's say you have a page named "iPhoto", and you want to link the phrase "Using Acorn with iPhoto" to the iPhoto page. Previously VP wouldn't let you do this, since the word iPhoto appeared in the phrase. This type of custom link now works in 4.2.3.
