WIN-SFV32 Description

Verifying the downloaded files to make sure no one tampered with them can be done quite easily by comparing the checksum of those items with those of the originals. There are several special formats for keeping that data and when it comes to CRC32 hashes, they can be preserved as simple file verification (SFV) format files. Creating and checking these particular items can be done through some dedicated utilities like WIN-SFV32. This program has a very basic interface that provides quick access to all its functions that will make it possible for anyone to test the integrity of any files. In order to successfully perform that confirmation you will need either the original file or a copy that you know to be valid. A SFV table can also be used as WIN-SFV32 performs the comparisons automatically. Using the application is not too difficult as you will only have to pick the location where the target files are kept. After identifying the contents of that directory, the software displays all the files in another window, accompanied by details like size and timestamp. The actions that are available from this area of WIN-SFV32 are just two: the first is to verify the files and the second to create a SFV table. The checksum file can be in VAL or TXT format, the preferred types and you can choose to log bad files and delete the failed ones. The verification and table creation windows show the progress of the operation, as well as the legend of the color codes used to represent unprocessed, skipped, erroneous or otherwise missing items. All in all, WIN-SFV32 can be a bit difficult to work with especially since it requires some preexistent knowledge and understanding of the concepts it deals with.
