Temperature Measurement LennardJones Program Description

The STP TemperatureMeasurementLJ program simulates the exchange energy between a demon and a system of particles interacting via the Lennard-Jones potential. The program shows the kinetic temperature of the system as a function of time, and the energy distribution of the demon. The purpose of this simulation is to understand why the demon acts as an ideal thermometer The Default system is a one-dimensional ideal gas of N=64 particles in a box with linear dimension 30 and initial kinetic energy per particle of 1.0. Additional states and parameters can be specified using the Display|Switch GUI menu item. STP TemperatureMeasurementLJ is part of a suite of Open Source Physics programs that model aspects of Statistical and Thermal Physics (STP). The program is distributed as a ready-to-run (compiled) Java archive. Double-clicking the stp_TemperatureMeasurementLJ.jar file will run the program if Java is installed on your computer.
