Smith Chart Description

Smith Chart is a lightweight Windows application built with education purposes for helping users edit Smith charts. Since this is a Java-based utility, you should make sure you have previously installed the working environment on your computer, otherwise you cannot run the tool. This is a portable program, so it is important to mention that it doesn’t leave any traces in the Windows Registry. You can copy it on any USB flash drive or other devices, and take it with you whenever you to need to modify Smith charts on the breeze, without having to go through installation steps. Smith Chart sports a clean and straightforward layout that allows you to configure the settings with minimum effort. The application displays the Smith chart in the primary panel, and lets you insert points, rename the current point or delete them all with just one click, undo or redo your actions, select a point, as well as set up the parameters related to SWR circles. Other important features worth mentioning are represented by the possibility to show or hide the components, copy the chart to the clipboard or export to PNG file format, and zoom in or out. During our testing we have noticed that the tool carries out a task quickly, provides very good image quality, and no errors showed up throughout the entire process. However, just like any similar Java tool, it eats up CPU and memory, so the overall system performance may be burdened. As a conclusion, Smith Chart offers a handy set of parameters for helping you modify the Smith chart, and is suitable for all types of users regardless of their experience level.
