ScanJet Interceptor Description

From JKS Software : The ScanJet Interceptor (SJI) from JKS Software is a client/server product which addresses the problems and shortcomings of the HP software which shares their scanners between multiple users on a local area network (LAN). The problems inherent with HP's PrecisionScan Pro software, solved by the SJI, include the following: Scanner sharing does not work when the scanner is attached to the PC with a USB connection - it requires a SCSI adapter to be installed. HP's "server" component, responsible for sharing the scanner, runs as a standard Windows application, not as a true Windows service. As such, unlike a Windows service, it is unsuitable to be left running indefinitely and is prone to crashing or "hanging". If more than one user tries to access the scanner simultaneously, they are presented with the same unhelpful error message as shown above. No way to monitor usage of the scanner, or to check its current status. There is no easy way for an administrator to reset the server if a problem occurs. If a remote user logs off Windows while running the scanner software, scanner locks up. The SJI does not replace HP's PrecisionScan LAN software - it works alongside it, creating a far more reliable and functionally useful networked scanning environment.
