Folder Guard Description

video prev next There are many ways of protecting and even hiding the most sensitive data on your computer from prying eyes, but not all of them are as flexible and secure as Folder Guard’s. This utility allows you to customize the protection level you want to add to your files and folders, from locking them against unwanted access to hiding them completely from view, and all of that with just a password. That password can be your master password or a different one. The master password is the first thing you’ll have to define when opening the program for the first time. As said, you can use it for any other operation within the program or define different passwords for different files and/or folders for extra protection. Losing or forgetting your master password is usually a tragedy with many similar tools, but Folder Guard offers you its Emergency Recovery Utility (an extra tool downloadable from the developers’ site) to help you remember it. With Folder Guard you can protect your private data (files and folders) with a password, prevent other users (either at home or on a network) from accessing those files and folders and modify them, hide them completely so there is no way they can be found by intrusive users, restrict access to any external drive, etc. Some of these operations have protection levels of their own, thus guaranteeing that data are protected just in the way and to the extent you need. All of these protection and hiding tasks are performed via passwords, without encrypting or tampering with your data in any way. As an extra protection measure, you can set Folder Guard in “stealth” mode, meaning that it will hide from sight, making itself invisible to anyone but you, so that nobody can disable its protection by, for instance, uninstalling it. Protecting your files and folders with Folder Guard is not free. Actually, for a number of users, its license fee may look a bit high, but in the end, it is for you to put a price to the level of protection that your private and sensitive data deserve.
