Abe's Exoddus Description

The sequel of the great Abe’s Oddysee, Abe's Exoddus, presents an equally challenging gameplay, with some new elements that won’t disappoint fans of the first game. Abe is back, now turned into a sort of hero, with a new and dangerous mission to fulfill, which also makes room for a bizarre sense of humor that provides some hilarious and unforgettable scenes. The Magog Cartel, commanded by the Glukkons, is excavating the grounds of Necrum, Mudokon’s city of the dead, looking for Mudokon’s bones to create an addictive beverage called SoulStorm Brew. Mudokons, in this case blind, have been enslaved to work in the mine, where they suffer all kinds of tortures and torments. Abe’s mission is to stop the production of this drink, and save his friends by going over the mine, facing old and new enemies, sorting out imaginative puzzles and mind-challenging situations, and performing tasks that require wit, and skill. Now Mudokons have more personality than the submissive characters we met in the previous game. They now have different frames of mind, and can actually express themselves in many ways. Besides, some of the situations Abe has to solve require the contribution of these creatures. There are some tasks that need to be performed by a team, but getting the Mudokons to work together with you can be a real headache, to say the least, particularly if they are under the effects of the ‘laughing gas’. This laughing gas turns Mudokons into annoyingly irritating creatures, who won’t stop laughing unless you literally slap them in the face. The comical part is, undoubtedly, that they can reply with the another slap, what will encourage you to slap back! But be careful, as after successive slapping you may end up actually killing a Mudokon, and that’s not the goal. Among Abe’s new abilities, the most salient one is that now he can control some enemy characters with the feature called Possession that is achieved with a chant. Enemies, in turn, are more varied, and more malicious as well. Along with the well-known Sligs, now there are Slogs, who will basically try to kill Abe at sight. Signs like 'Depressed? Then work harder!', or ‘Need a (permanent) vacation? Talk to a Slig supervisor’, are now part of the wicked sense of humor that makes this sequel a lot more fun and enjoyable than its predecessor. Probably the most acclaimed and welcome feature of this game is the option called QuickSave, that allows you to save the game at any moment creating checkpoints with custom names so you can restart them whenever you like. Abe’s Exoddus is absolutely fun and hilarious, still complicated and very difficult to solve. It ia an absolute classic. Mariel Rearte Editor rating:
