As said before, it allows media streaming. Luckily, you can use passwords to prevent outsiders from stealing your data. In this regard, it is good that it is possible to use individual passwords for each camera. However, it does not offer various clearance levels. As additional protection, you can set a filter based on a specific IP range. Recording can be started both manually or by a schedule. Likewise, the tool can detect motion and, in order to avoid false alarms, you are allowed to set a detection mask and adjust sensitivity levels. Conveniently, the program can also detect intruders through sound. Any of these events can trigger actions, such as uploading video to an FTP server or posting it to HTTP, launching external software, sending an SMS, and playing a given sound. As extra features, the program allows chatting with other users. It also comes with an overlay editor. Moreover, it lets you use any of various video and audio compression profiles to save disk space. In general, Webcam 7 Pro has most of the features you would expect to find in this type of software, except perhaps face detection. It is available in a standard version, but the Pro version being reviewed here supports an unlimited number of sources and a few additional features.
