split3pm Description

The split3pm application was designed to be is command line tool designed to extract music segments from a larger MP3 file. For example, you might have a long radio capture in MP3 format and you want to cut out a piece of music from it. Before split3pm you would have had to convert the file to Wave and edit it there; now, you can just tell split3pm the time and duration of one or more audio segments and it will extract the files for you. Limitations: · Currently, the time-resolution accuracy is somewhat lacking. That is, it might be off by +/- 5 seconds or so. I will call this a fault of the strange MP3 file format (if you look carefully, you'll find similar problems in Winamp, you know). · Currently there is no support for VBR (Variable Bit-Rate) encoded files
