middle_man is a AIM plugin that intends to improve the program’s usage by removing certain restrictions implemented by AOL. It is a lightweight tool that runs in the background and enables you to fine tune the application in order to accept certain changes. However, the latest version of AIM includes multiple improvements which can be accessed without installing third party tools. You can use this tool for accessing multiple logging features which can keep track of the activity of your buddies. For instance, by running the middle_man you are able to log the sent and received files, the buddy status changes or the chat messages. When you need a way to organize your conversations, the middle_man enables you to group all the instant message windows by using a tabbed interface.
