db2Gdba is a windows user interface, designed and developed by production database administrators to manage, control, and monitor DB2 large and small database implementations. This lightweight utility presents both real time monitoring, and database metadata information in a window tab based interface, giving dba's and developers quick detailed overviews of what their systems are running, which users are connected, what statements are running, buffer pool performance, log utilization, locking applications, temporary tables, and other useful monitoring data. This utility finds and illustrates the properties of any database object quickly. Its tab base design makes any database object visibility at a glance, and makes the search of its properties a matter of one or two mouse clicks. By just selecting one or several objects, and clicking a button, this program displays the real time status corresponding to the type of the selected database object. For instance, after displaying a list of tablespaces (tab Tablespaces) searched under certain name criteria, the user can see their status, or see the disk-space metrics, or the size or tablespaces to include in the next full tablespace backup, or modify the user privileges on them. Likewise, having a list of tables displayed in the tab Tables, the user can choose to get the DDL for one or several tables at the same time, or modify user access, see the overall disk size utilization, display the range partition definitions, and other table characteristics. This application was designed for multi partitioned databases. For this reason, it's great when managing large db2 LUW data warehouse implementations. The user can search and investigate the behavior of the database objects at the database partition level. It includes functionality to detect data skew at the table level. Also, it has a tab to display a report illustrating potential disk space skew at the tablespace level, which in turn could be related to table data skew or other type of disk space usage irregularity.
