Xkeys allows you to launch applications and open files and folders just by pressing a function key. Function keys can have submenus, duplicating the functionality of Fkey Expander. It can also be put on standby with a keystroke. The ability of function keys to launch things is a feature of OS 9 that has been dropped in Mac OS X for some reason.
