WtsFtp was born out of the necessity for a fast, safe, affordable and reliable solution for transferring files between a Terminal Services/Remote Desktop Client and a Terminal Services/Remote Desktop Server. Windows 2000 and Windows XP/2003 have different support levels for Terminal Services/Remote Desktop file transfer. Windows 2000 Server family was released with no direct Terminal Services support for file transfer. Normally to enable file transfer on windows 2000 platforms you need to install unreliable patches and/or map network drives (expose your network to file access from the Internet). Windows XP/2003 added drive mapping capabilities but did not solve most existing problems. On Windows 2000/XP/2003 there is a performance hit while transferring files over slow network connections, file transfer needs to be restarted every time the connection to the server is broken, there are difficulties controlling bandwidth allocation, difficulties controlling user file access and in general file transfers are slow and unreliable. WtsFtp was designed to solve all those problems.
