Windows Anti-Virus Mate is a lightweight and portable application that scans the computer for malware (including spyware and adware) and remove it on sight. Since installation is not a prerequisite, you can drop the executable file somewhere on the hard disk and click it to run. It is also possible to save Windows Anti-Virus Mate to a USB flash disk or similar storage unit, in order to run it on any workstation with minimum effort. An important aspect to take into account is that the Windows Registry does not get new entries, and files are not left behind on the hard disk after removing the program. The interface consists of a single window where you can start the scan-and-remove procedure with the click of a button. Malicious agents are eliminated on sight. In addition, you can view currently running processes (image name, process ID, hidden process, path name), autostart entries (group, name, value), BHOs (Browser Helper Objects), ports and services. There are no other options provided by this utility. Windows Anti-Virus Mate is very low-demanding when it comes to CPU and RAM, so it does not put a strain on overall performance or interrupt normal user activity. We have not experienced any issues throughout our evaluation, since the program did not hang or crash. Too bad the tool has not been updated for a long time because it is not supported by newer operating systems. Even so, keep in mind that Windows Anti-Virus Mate does not provide real-time protection, so you have to install an all-around antivirus utility for maximized computer security.
