WinX Free DVD to MP4 Ripper is a free DVD movie converter. It converts DVD movies to the MP4 container format and it uses H.264 and MPEG-4 codecs to encode video. Audio is processed using the AAC codec. This is perhaps one of the most useful free rippers by WinX; at least, for a user like me. I only own a few DVD movies and most of them are TV show episodes. When I want to watch one of those episodes or movies on my iPhone or console, I convert them to H.264, which is supported by lots and lots of devices. With a few changes, this application can help me do that, and add subtitles to the video if the need arises. In terms of design, there's really nothing here to write home about. But it gets the job done, so it is a win-win. All the conversion settings are at the bottom of the screen. If you ever use this app, remember that it increases volume automatically. Don't ask me why. You can disable that behavior by sliding the volume bar back to 0. In my testing, I used one of my DVDs and converted a single title to an H.264 MP4 file. It played great on my iPhone.
