Visual Protocol Simulator VPS Description

Editor's review: This software provides development support for development of proprietary or standard communication protocols. Visual protocol Simulator software is an integrated development environment (IDE) for communication protocols. It lets you design, simulate, analyze, log, monitor and integration testing of proprietary as well as standard communication protocols. These could include File Transfer Protocol (FTP) that lets you transfer files from one host to another. Text messaging between two devices also is a set of protocols one could develop on this platform. The VPS runs in Windows environment. It has pre-defined packets that can help get you started easily. Help menu, tutorials with examples will also help. Through the GUI, VPS packet bytes can be associated with Window controls such as edit box, spin box, comb box, radio and check buttons. That would let the data to be visualized in a form that is easy to read and interpret. Radio and Check buttons are designed to handle bitfield manipulation. The development tool is easy to use and there would not be any need for scripting. One could open the simulator dialog box type in your project and click RUN to send, click SAVE when done to save your work. The necessary settings are clearly indicated in the interface. These cater to a header, data payload and footer. The packets can be enhanced with optional standard cyclic redundancy check (CRC) functions such as CRC16, CCITT Xmodem and Modulo 255. Other types of CRC checks could also be used. The communication method adopted is unidirectional. Output port gets configured as a RS-232 port. One could configure that to other standards like SPI, RS485 and UART. The tool includes a project management structure that lets you create multiple projects. Packet definitions can be taken into more than one project. This is a really nice tool that can handle the complex protocol developments. It is truly simple to use. Publisher's description:
