VirtualDVD Description

video prev next In order to enjoy the content of a disk image file, we usually need to burn it to disc first, be it a blank CD, a DVD, or a Blu-ray disc. The other option is to use VirtualDVD to create a virtual drive in which the disc can be “mounted”, so that we can open it or play it as if stored on an optical disc. With this free utility, you can mount and unmount your disk image files with just one click. Unlike other similar tools, free or otherwise, VirtualDVD offers no other functionality other than the possibility of mounting and unmounting disk image files, hence the simplicity of its tiny interface. Actually, it is merely a preferences dialog where you can check or uncheck the option to launch the program at Windows startup and a counter to show the devices available. The only other option you’ll find here refers to the possibility of changing the language of the interface. Apart from this minimal interface, you’ll find an icon on your tray that opens a small context menu where you can mount and unmount images, select any of the existing drives, open the online help pages, and exit the program. VirtualDVD is therefore a straightforward utility designed to mount and unmount disk image files in the simplest and most efficient way. It supports all the most common formats, such as ISO, IMG, CUE, BIN, and MDS, as well as some of the most widely used proprietary formats, like DVD from CloneDVD and NRG from Nero Burning ROM. If you require any extra functionality – present in other similar tools, such as a disk image creation tool or image-to-disc burning capabilities you will need to install any of the third-party tools available out there.
