Tiny Hex Editor is a lightweight and portable utility that, as the name implies, allows you to edit a text's hexadecimal code. It can be seamlessly handled, even by first-time users. Since installation is not a prerequisite, you can simply drop the executable file anywhere on the hard drive and run it immediately. But you can also store Tiny Hex Editor on a USB flash drive or similar storage unit, in order to run it on any computer. Thus, you can carry the utility with you wherever you go. What should be mentioned is that the Windows Registry section does not receive entry updates, and files are not left behind on the hard drive after program removal. The interface of the application is based on a standard window with an uncomplicated layout, where you can open a document in the workspace by using either the file browser or "drag and drop" method. Tiny Hex Editor displays both the text and its hexadecimal code in the main frame, hence you can select any position and start making the necessary adjustments. Hovering the mouse cursor over a character in the hexadecimal or word wrap mode reveals its row and column number, hex and character value, and offset. The new file can be saved to file on the hard drive or other location. In addition, you can increase or decrease the column sizes, as well as enable normal, less or no character fading. The small app barely uses CPU and system memory, thus it doesn't interfere with the runtime of other active processes. We have not experienced any issues throughout our tests; the utility did not hang, crash or pop up error dialogs.
