The Suspension Calculator application was developed to be a small tool that aims to help people who are building race cars perform suspension related calculations. The calculations vary from motion ratios, to spring stiffness, to wheel loads. The program not only eases suspension calculations, but also provides a teaching platform with diagrams and written explanations, to increase the understanding of the processes behind the results. You will be presented with a main screen that is a hub to 19 other windows. These 19 other windows are the ones that perform the calculations, and after performing them in any one of these windows you will be forced to go back to the main screen by clicking 'return' (do not click the close using the red 'x' in the top right corner). The data entered and calculated in these screens will automatically be stored if you press ‘calculate’, preventing you having to enter data multiple times between windows and allowing you to come back to the window later. However, it is important to double check this data, as sometimes the software may assume something that is not true. Using a fictitious and simple example, if you enter the front load of the vehicle as 1000N in one screen the software will assume a 50:50 left-right weight distribution. In another screen you may be asked for the front right and front left wheel loads, rather than the total front wheel load, and they will now appear as 500N each. This may be wrong and the left-right distribution may be important in this window resulting in wrong results.
