We all want and need to know what the time is, but sometimes the small clock in the system tray isn’t enough. Steampunk Orrery Calendar Clock is a small tool that requires Yahoo! Widget Engine to work. The clock looks great and it comes with rotating wheels. Thus, when you turn the months’ wheel, all cogs move; including the Earth and Moon representations. While the Earth rotates around the inner glow of the clock, the moon goes around the Earth. Clicking on the natural satellite takes you back to the current date. The app has an extensive preferences menu where you can adjust various details. Here, you can choose to display today’s date or the calendar date in the widget dock. Also, the calendar can be scaled and you can choose how often it advances. Furthermore, the date for the clock can also be adjusted if you choose a year, month and day. Steampunk Orrery Calendar Clock also supports memos. Thus, you can create any number of personal notes. These can be customized from the Preferences menu. The colors of the text, background and frame can be adjusted, as well as the font style and size. A keyboard shortcut can also be defined in order to access the memo search dialog. The software can also remember the sunrise and sunset times. You can either use your local time zone or define a location of your own. Furthermore, you can choose one of the four available sunrise and sunset calculations: official, civil, nautical and astronomical. The fact of the matter is that Steampunk Orrery Calendar Clock is a great looking widget that can fit well on any screen. The app is easy to install and just as easy to customize, so inexperienced users shouldn’t have difficulties in figuring out all the features.
