Startup Control Panel is a lightweight and portable application that gives you the possibility of managing apps and Registry entries that automatically run at system startup. Although it primarily targets advanced users, such as network administrators, less skilled individuals should quickly learn how to handle this tool. As Startup Control Panel does not integrate a setup pack, you can simply drop the executable file anywhere on the hard drive to run it immediately. It is also possible to save the tool to a USB flash drive or similar removable device, and run it on any computer. Aside from carrying Startup Control Panel in your pocket, you should be happy to know that the Windows Registry does not receive new entries, and no files remain on the hard drive after program removal. The interface of the utility is represented by a regular window with a simple layout, organized into multiple tabs. Therefore, you can manage programs from the HKEY_CURRENT_USER Registry section and perform actions such as disabling their automatic run at Windows boot, editing their names and paths, sending them to other tabs, or adding new items to the list. Applications may also be triggered to run only once, at the next system startup. Plus, you can view items you have recently removed from other locations as well as run programs from the common or current user's startup folder, or from the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE Registry area. Startup Control Panel is very light on the system's resources, as it barely uses CPU and memory. Its response time is very good, and the app performed well throughout our evaluation, without causing us any issues, such as hanging or crashing. While taking into account that Startup Control Panel has not been updated for a very long time, the software utility provides users with a simple means of controlling the startup items, without affecting the computer's productivity in the process.
