StartClock Description

Always knowing what the time is can be quite useful, especially if you often work with tight deadlines. StartClock is a small utility that transforms the Windows start button into a custom clock. The program has a simple interface that should be easy to figure out by all users. As mentioned, once installed, the app replaces the regular Start button. The new button displays the Windows logo and the current computer time. The utility comes with a system tray icon that provides additional information regarding the time if you hover the mouse over it. Thus, you can view the day of the week, the date, the day of the year, the week and the exact time, down to the number of seconds. Additional settings enable users to fiddle with the way the clock is displayed. For instance, you may modify the time format, both for the button and for the system tray icon. It’s also possible to disable and enable showing any tips. The app also provides a list of details regarding the proper formats for various date components, such as the day, the year and the week. All in all, StartClock is a nice tool that is sure to be helpful to many of its users. Less experienced individuals should find it easy to handle, thanks to the intuitive layout and its overall simplicity. Reviewed by Gabriela Vatu, last updated on March 29th, 2013
