Start Menu Button Description

Start Menu Button is a simplistic application whose purpose is to create a classic Start menu button in Windows 8, sparing users the trouble of moving the mouse to the lower left corner of the screen to access the Start screen. This program does not require installation, which makes it portable. In other words, you can drop the program files to any location on the hard disk and run the executable directly. There is also the possibility to save Start Menu Button to a pen drive or external hard disk, in order to run it on any computer running under Windws 8. An important aspect to take into account is that the Windows registry does not get updated with new entries, and files are not left behind on the HDD after removing the utility. Once initialized, a Start button with the Windows 8 icon is automatically added to the taskbar, bringing up the Start screen. There are no other notable options provided by this tool. Start Menu Button does not put a strain on computer performance, as it runs on a very low quantity of CPU and RAM. It did not cause the operating system to hang, crash or pop up error dialogs in our evaluation. All in all, users who are running under Windows 8 and have yet to upgrade to 8.1 may take advantage of Start Menu Button to bring the old Start button back.
