Soft4Boost Document Converter Description

Designed to make quick and easy conversions between the most popular document types, Soft4Boost Document Converter batch-converts your PDF, Word, HTML, images, and even e-book files between them in a simple and straightforward way. Some of the output formats support a certain level of customization, and the program’s large preview window allows you to use this tool simply to open and view your supported documents. It is precisely this preview window one of the program’s main assets. Most document converters show you but a useless thumbnail of the source file that, in the best of cases, merely allows you to make sure you selected the right one. The fact that Soft4Boost’s app is also a document viewing software tool adds extra value to its conversion capabilities. You can open any number of files in most of the formats supported and move from one to another using the tabs provided. In a panel on the right-hand side of the interface, you’ll find buttons for most of the formats supported. There you will find an interesting mixture of Microsoft documents (DOC, DOCX, and RTF), web-based files (HTML and MHT), images (TIFF, GIF, PNG, and JPEG), e-books (EPUB, FB2, and MOBI), and other useful types, such as PDF, ODT, and TXT. There are other formats, such as DjVu, XPS, and PowerPoint, that you won’t find there but that are also supported. Not all formats are treated equally, though – all of them will allow you to rename the resulting output file and to extract any images present in the source, but PDF and all image file formats offer also a minimum level of customization. Nothing too sophisticated, though, but at least you can password-protect and watermark your PDF files, and change the quality and watermark also the output image files. The conversion process is fast and produces the expected results. Note, however, that all active documents will be converted, as you won’t find here the traditional conversion list with a check/uncheck option – if you don’t want a file to be converted, you have close it first. All opened files will be converted to the latest format you selected, which means that you will have to go through as many conversion processes as output formats you require. Image extraction processes are performed individually on each of the files selected and they are independent from any output format you selected previously – for reasons beyond me, all output will be saved as non-configurable BMP files only, despite the program’s support for other graphic formats. This free tool is fast and efficient, which is more than what other similar commercial products can promise. It is not perfect, it may not be extremely attractive, and it is not highly versatile when it comes to output customization, but it is easy to use and it can be used with an interesting variety of documents at a time. If those are your requirements, Soft4Boost Document Converter is a very convenient and obvious choice. Francisco Martínez Editor rating:
