SocketToMe Description

If we are going to experiment with restricting and allowing access to raw sockets, we need a "raw socket detector" to tell us whether or not raw sockets are currently available to the user running the program. So SocketToMe was born. SocketToMe application will allow any user of any version of Windows to determine what degree of raw socket access their Windows operating system is currently offering to its logged on user. Armed with a raw socket detector, we needed a means for demonstrating the feasibility of "selectively restricting" all user access to raw sockets while allowing unimpeded system access. Time was critical because I am still hoping to convince Microsoft to fix this before they commit to Windows XP's final code.
