These files are termed inactive files. ￭ A file share may be containing files of all different types (e.g., music, video, zip archives, office documents etc.) and you want to find out files of specific types and avoid migrating them to SharePoint. ￭ Users have created duplicate copies of many files in the file share over time. You want to identify the duplicates and avoid migrating duplicate copies of files to SharePoint. ￭ You want to migrate only the files which are created / modified / utilized recently (say in past six months) to SharePoint. These files are termed as Active files. ￭ SharePoint is very stringent about what characters it allows in the document names in the document libraries. Many characters that are allowed in file names in a file share are not allowed in SharePoint.
