With the US Robotics Sportster Message Plus modem you get a software packet that is quite complete but: - its management of the self-mode (the capability of operate as an answering machine without any PC involvement) is quite cumbersome; - it keeps always busy the serial port; - when it run it stops the self-mode and you have to explicitly restart it before exiting. SMPManager manages the self-mode as you did with your old answering machine. You have to revert to the original software packet only to view received faxes and for other more complex functions.
