Regrecover Description

The Regrecover appliation will export data from corrupt registry files which can not be loaded as a hive by Regedit. It is designed to extract as many data as possible and even evaluates sections of the file which normally are considered as data trash. This makes it particularly useful for strongly damaged registry files. It uses a completely different approach than RegdatXP which can also read and export from corrupt registry files. Unlike RegdatXP, Regrecover linearly reads all cells right after opening the file, and then tries to rebuild the file structure. For larger files this may take several minutes, and at least 512 MB Ram are recommended. Typically, Regrecover should be applied to files for which RegdatXP just displays a single root cell having no subkeys, or when RegdatXP even refuses to open the file saying it’s an invalid registry file. The former usually means that the information about where the subkeys of the root cell are located is no longer available thus making it necessary to scan the entire file for possible subkeys.
