QIP Contacts Manager Description

The QIP Contacts Manager utility was designed to help you make a backup copy of the server side contact list or on the contrary to restore the server side contact list from a backup copy. Also the program will show you full contents of your server side contact list, which are usually inaccessible to the user eyes. If you see only numbers instead of contacts names, the program also will help to add names to all contacts through import function. After you will enter account information and will connect, will see the server side contact list (items) in which there will be following items (descriptions of items and their maximum quantity below in a window “Selected item info”. And “Selected item hex view” - a window showing more detailed technical information, for the advanced users): - Items count - total of items of your list. - Last Modified - date and time of last operation above the list (operation of addition, removal, renaming, etc.). These parameters are stored on a server aand are inaccessible to editing. - - root group contains all groups that you have in your server side list. Also this item contains information about quantity of groups and quantity of contacts (icq numbers and aim screennames). Having opened groups, you will see yours contacts in that kind in which they are stored on a server which can comprise the following: - (Auth) - the red circle with an exclamation mark opposite to contact means, that this contact should authorize you, and only after that the server will notify you after change of statuses of this contact (in QIP, about statuses of such contacts a server notifies anyway, but all the same it is desirable to request authorization). - (Alias) - a nickname of your contact with which you see it in the list of contacts QIP. - (Email, Mobile, Note) - an e-mail address, mobile number, note of this contact. - (Time) - in this floor date and time of last change of data of contact shows, also official clients add this date after sending the first message to this contact. Therefore particularly to tell, that means this parameter, it is not obviously possible. - (Type) - type of item stored your list. Except for groups and contacts, your server list can store still the order of 25 various types of items, which will not show to you, as they do not demand special intervention of the user. - Visible, Invisible, Ignore List - in these items contacts of private lists, i.e. the list of visibility/invisibility/ignored, which also are stored on a server, show all. Very often users complain, that there is no place in the list ignored (макс. 128 contacts). And I answer, that the list ignored is made not to add there spamers, and for people who as-or bored, have bothered and ect. Adding spamer’s numbers icq in the list ignored, you simply overflow it, as such numbers quickly enough leave also them use usually only once. For struggle against a spam use an anti-spam a boat. Also do not forget to clean the list ignored. - Other Items - all other items of your list. Interesting enough item in which hundreds "not clear" contacts and data can sometimes be stored. Here are descriptions some of them: ( - Bitmask) - Item which keeps options of your private status and different options of connecting networks aim & icq .This item is not recommend to be deleted because it is created by the client during each new connection. (LastUpdateDate) – item which contains date and time at the discretion of client’s program. For example official clients icq add this item after some manipulations with their details. (Import Time) - This item shows date and time of last import of contacts. It is necessary to tell about it a little bit more. The matter is that because of absence of this item in your list you can import different contacts and all of them will be added without authorization which is very convenient while import hundred of contacts (you won’t have to ask authorization again). Till some time, this item could be deleted, and anew to import contacts without inquiries of authorization. Now, after the first import, the server itself adds this item, and puts attribute " Only for reading ", that will not allow to make second time import of contacts inquiry of authorizations. That procedure of import will occur, and contacts will be added in the list, but anyway in further you’ll have to ask some people the authorization. It is very convenient to import contacts to the new account because it hasn’t this item and it’ll allow you to add your contacts without asking authorization again. (External) or (NonBuddy) - These are similar types of items and for the majority of users they can be absent. They have to keep the details of contacts which aren’t in used by the networks of icq or aim, e.g. in the type of item NonBuddy may be pointed email and in External (for example the item 1*EXT) can be record of a name of the person with number of a mobile phone. (Saved) - there can be a lot of these items. This item keeps the name or the number of account, which was deleted but with owner of which you’ve changed messages at least once. Just like reserve copying by server. It’s not understandable what for as the mechanism of their restoring wasn’t observing. But these items are deleted if you add contacts to CL again. But you still can delete them and server let it to be done. (PreAuthed) - there can be a lot of these items also. This item adds by the server after the deleted contact let you to add him to his CL. This item also keeps the name or the number of account. These items are useful because of them you can add contacts without authorization as long as you’ve got these items. But they’re also inconvenient if there are a lot of them and during getting big CL they get away a lot of traffic.
