PaCAL Description

PaCAL, also known as ProbAbilistic CALculator was created as an open source Python instrument that allows users to perform arithmetic operations on random variables. Now, you can use this handy and useful tool to compute with various probability distributions. Main features: Accuracy is often close to machine precision All four arithmetic operations implemented Powers and functions of random variables log, exp, sqrt, atan Works with: distributions with singularities, singularities in derivatives, heavy tails (including Cauchy, Levy, Pareto) and no moments Computations with two dependent random variables Joint distributions: normal, copulas, joint distribution of two order statistics Complicated operations on the two variables are possible, may involve additional intermediate variables Operations on an arbitrary number of dependent variables in the style of Bayesian networks (currently beta)
