Released in December 2003 and published by Atari and Infogrames, Hordes of the Underdark came as the second installment in the critically acclaimed Bioware roleplaying game. It continues the story from the first expansion - Shadows of Undrentide, adding more then 20 hours of single-player action and increasing the level cap to 40. The addon also brings 6 prestige classes ( Red Dragon Disciple, Dwarven Defender, Pale Master,Champion of Torm,Weapon master and Shifter), 4 tilesets, over 40 spells, new creatures,voices and a new toolset with improved functionality for community content making. The action revolves around the Drows and their attempts to use the Undermountain located beneath Waterdeep in order to invade the surface world, and starts from an NPC named Durnan that asks the player to investigate. Drows, in their wish to rule the surface world made new alliances with most of the Underdark races and also a pact with Mephistopheles, the Arch-Evil of Hell. As the story evolves, the player ventures through new planes and realms, makes new allies and enemies as he/she fights to stop the armies of evil Drows Queen Valsharess reaching the surface world.
