MyTV is a handy application designed to work with the TV tuners that are based on the BT848 or BT878 chip. These TV cards allow you to receive and to decode the audio and video signals received from a cable or an antenna in order to watch TV on your computer. You can use this application in order to scan all the frequencies and to store the channels that you want to watch on your computer. The TV system and the tuner type can be specified before scanning the frequencies. The users that know the exact frequency of a certain channel can add it by entering the parameters manually. The app is able to capture the TV broadcast and to schedule the capture time interval in order to record your favorite TV show. Before starting the capture you need to select the channel and to enter the video and audio parameters. The application only allows you to customize the sound quality; the compression and format of the video stream are handled by the TV card drivers. The scheduler allows you to shut down the computer when the recording is over and warns you when the time interval is not valid or bigger than three hours. Thus, you can avoid saving large files on your hard drive and missing a show because you mistyped the hour or the date. The interface of the application has the basic features of a TV tuner player but lacks the ability to create a list of favorite channels or the option to access certain channels from the keyboard. However, it is able to customize each entry from the channel list by entering a specific volume, brightness or saturation level. Overall, MyTV is a minimalistic application that allows you to view and to capture TV shows with minimum effort. It requires insignificant resources which recommends it for the low budget systems.
