MyFTP Description

FTP clients are in most cases more or less advanced applications, so beginners may actually have a very hard time trying to figure out how to use them. That’s why MyFTP may be a very attractive program for all rookies who wish to simply upload a file to a FTP server without any other configuration options and with just a few clicks. The program’s GUI is as simple as it gets, with just a basic layout that prompts you to pick the local file and hit the “Send” button to start the transfer. But there’s one very important issue to be mentioned here. As you can see, there are no configuration settings to play with, so all users who wish to configure the FTP servers they are sending files to need to do the whole thing manually. In plain English, users are required to open the INI configuration file in the program’s folder and manually input server name, username, password and the FTP root directory. Unfortunately, this rather unusual approach forces users to transfer files to a single FTP server, so in order to configure another server, you have no other option than to change the configuration file before each upload. On the good side, MyFTP is a very fast and stable application, running smoothly on all Windows versions, while remaining fairly light on hardware resources. All in all, MyFTP is the kind of tool that is especially aimed at rookies who want just that, upload files to a server with no fuss. It does its job very well, but more advanced users clearly need to look somewhere else. Reviewed by Bogdan Popa, last updated on May 9th, 2012
