Multi-Language Add-In for Visual Studio .NET Description

The Multi-Language Add-In provides extended support for creating global applications with a user interface in multiple languages using Microsoft Visual Studio .NET. This product is an Add-In for Visual Studio .NET, which means that it runs within the development environment to provide additional features, not provided by Visual Studio itself. The basic steps involved in creating a global application are: 1 Identifying the strings to be translated The Add-In scans your project, looking for strings defined in the properties of controls and in the program source code and presents these strings in two separate grids. The Add-In automatically shows all string properties which have the localizable attribute. For strings in the source code, you can enable translation of the string using a check box in the grid. Strings which do not require translation can be hidden, so that you do not see them in future. 2 Specifying the languages to be supported The Add-In shows you a list of all languages supported by Windows. Simple select a language from the list to add it to the project. For each language, an additional column is added to the grids, showing the strings for this language. 3 Entering translations in the specified languages The simplest way to enter a text in a given language is to type it into the grid. As soon as you click in a cell, the Add-In will show the location of the text in the source code, or in a designer window. If it is in a designer window, then the designer is switched to the appropriate language, so that you see exactly what the Form or UserControl will look like in that language. As an alternative, you can export all strings to an Excel file, edit them using Excel and then import them back into the project. 4 Using the translations in the project The .NET Common Language Runtime (CLR) provides extensive support for global applications, based on satellite dlls. To use the translations, you simple export the strings to resource files and compile your project. Visual Studio .NET will automatically generate the satellite dlls using the required directory structure. Version 1.0.0 supports Windows Forms applications written in Visual Basic .NET (a future version will support C#). Languages supported:Englisn
