MacroMaker Description
MacroMaker is a tool designed for users who perform repetitive tasks on their computer, since it can automatize these procedures in accordance with a custom set of rules. It is mainly oriented toward users with some minimal background in such apps. The interface of the program is not impressive from the visual point of view, but we must take into account the fact that MacroMaker has not received updates for a pretty long time. A drop-down menu gives you access to several categories of macro commands, whether we are talking about the system, keyboard, mouse, Clipboard, window or data manipulation, user interface or logic control. Therefore, you can run a particular program in a normal, minimized or maximized window, by pointing out to an executable file and writing command-line arguments. Additional macro commands can reboot or power off the computer automatically, change the system clock, insert user-defined data into the Clipboard, modify a window's size and title, generate random numbers (e.g. set a minimum and maximum return value) and loop a logical command. There are dozens more options available. Furthermore, you can use a virtual keyboard to trigger actions, schedule multiple tasks, import and export macros, enable word or phrase triggers, as well as connect to a server by specifying its port, among others. MacroMaker is low-demanding concerning the computer's CPU and system memory, so it doesn't put a strain on the overall performance. It is very responsive to key strokes and mouse events, and includes a help file. Unfortunately, the application's features and layout are not very intuitive, and less experienced users might find it difficult to learn. Other than that, MacroMaker offers some resourceful preferences for performing repetitive tasks. Reviewed by Elena Opris, last updated on April 18th, 2013
