MPEG Scissors Description

MPEG Scissors is a small software tool that can trim and merge video clips with the MPEG format. Its features are not particularly difficult to figure out by less experienced users. The GUI of the app is represented by a standard window. Its layout may appear confusing to users, especially rookies. Locating an MPEG file to open it can be done by using only the file browser, since "drag and drop" is not supported. So, you can preview the clip in a small, built-in media player and trim it by marking the start and end frame number or position; all you have to do is establish the output directory and file name. The merging procedure is similar in its simplicity. MPEG Scissors displays several pieces of information regarding the MPEG item, such as the file size, frames per second, length, picture height and width, selection time length and current frame number. The simple-to-use application has a good response time and can take a while to finish a merging or trimming job, depending on the video's size. It includes a brief help file and requires a very low amount of CPU and system memory. No error dialogs have been displayed throughout our tests and MPEG Scissors did not hang or crash. However, the interface needs some major improvements when it comes to its appearance and layout (the app has not been updated for a very long time). Other than that, MPEG Scissors supplies users with a simple method for cutting and joining MPEG videos. Reviewed by Elena Opris, last updated on April 27th, 2013
