MAA for AS 400 Description

The Message Authentication Algorithm (MAA) for AS/400 is an implementation of the ISO standard (ISO Burner Reviews) 8731-2 cryptographic algorithm intended to secure banking transactions. Given a file and an Authentication key, the MAA algorithm computes a digital signature using one-way hashing functions, applied to the whole file. The signature is called Message Authentication Code (MAC). This signature can be used to verify that a block of data (a file) that is sent over a public network has not been changed during transmission.
