The lamps contain blobs of colored wax inside a glass vessel filled with clear liquid, so, when the wax is headed by the light bulb underneath the device, it moves around, imitating lava. Lava Lamp Gadget is a small app that emulates this decorative item. It comes in shades of blue that are sure to match most screens. The widget has a simple interface so it should be easy to figure out, thanks to the intuitive layout. The gadget can be moved to any area of the screen with the help of the mouse pointer. It doesn’t take much space, so it can be used for relaxation purposes rather than annoy you for taking up a good portion of the screen. While the program doesn’t let you switch the color of the lamp, you may fiddle with its opacity levels. This can be modified quite easily, through the context menu. The available values start at 20% and grow in increments of 20. The app can also be set to always be on top of other programs, which means that it should be easy to view, regardless of what other apps there are running on the screen. All in all, Lava Lamp Gadget is a nice program that can be fun to have around. Inexperienced users should find it easy to handle, thanks to the intuitive interface and its overall simplicity.
