Kaos Rhei is a lightweight software application built specifically for helping users design fractals, while offering support for different fractal types and filters. Since this is a portable program, it is important to mention that it doesn’t leave any traces in the Windows Registry, and you can copy it on any USB flash drive or other devices, and take it with you whenever you need to create fractal images. The user interface offers quick access to all its main functions, but the program doesn’t include a help manual with detailed information about each feature. You can create a new fractal by specifying the coordinates, picking from different fractal formulas (e.g. Mandelbrot, Newton, Spider, Quartet), and specifying the fractal orientation and image size. What’s more, Kaos Rhei gives users the possibility of selecting the color from a palette, or opting for the RGB or HLS color model. You can choose from different preset color schemes or create some on your own. The program comes packed with a plasma editor designed to help you select the levels of noise and brightness. It is possible to preview the changes applied in a dedicated pane. Furthermore, you can adjust the levels for brightness, contrast and gamma, as well as apply special filters (blur, smooth, sharpen, contour). The generated fractals can be exported to BMP, JPG, PBM, PGM, PNG or PPM, or printed. All things considered, Kaos Rhei lends you a hand for creating fractal images and exporting them to different formats.
