JAGS, also known as Just Another Gibbs Sampler was developed as a simple application that can be used for analyzing Bayesian hierarchical models using Markov Chain Monte Carlo. JAGS was designed to have a cross-platform engine for the BUGS language, to be extensible, and to be a platform for experimenting with ideas in Bayesian modelling.
