HotKee Description

This little tool uses Windows hooks to monitor the OS for user-specified hotkeys or keywords, uses Windows messages and mapped memory for IPC. HotKee is a simple macro application that allows you to assign predefined macros to key combinations (HotKees) or words that you type (KeeWords). Setting up the system is fairly straightforward: You define one or more macros, then you can associate those macros with HotKees and KeeWords which you define.Macros: For the purpose of this little app, a macro is a string that contains items that HotKee will parse and replace with other things. For instance, you might have a macro string that looks like this:{Date (%m/%d/%y)} {UserName}:When I executed this, HotKee replaced the text with this:07/10/03 JimS:HotKee: A combination of keystrokes, such as Ctrl-Shift-T, which executes a designated macro. You might create a HotKee for this key combination and assign it to the above-described macro. Whenever you hit Ctrl-Shift-T in a window, you would get the result of the associated macro. (HotKee is also the name of the application, which was kinduva dumb mistake, but it’s in stone now…)KeeWord: A word which, when detected by HotKee, will be replaced by the result of the associated macro. For instance, you might want the above to be placed in a window any time you type DATEME. (KeeWords are case-sensitive.)
