Help Creator is a lightweight cross-platform utility built specifically for helping you design help manuals. It comes in handy especially for programmers who are looking for a simple-to-use tool for creating HLP files for their applications. The program boasts a clean interface that gives users the possibility to upload items to the list by using the built-in browse button, so you cannot rely on the “drag and drop” support. Help Creator allows users to design a help manual by entering a name for the file, changing the background color, specifying the window position and size, and creating a table of contents. Plus, it offers support for multiple pages, which can be added to the list by specifying the name, context, topic, and index keywords. For each page you can add valid URLs and pictures. Unfortunately, the application offers support for a single image format, namely BMP. Help Creator enables users to embed text messages by pasting them from other third-party programs or typing in the information in the primary panel. The text can be customized only in terms of alignment, bold or italic options. The generated project can be exported to HTML, RTF, or plain text file. Additionally, you can make Help Creator open the help file at the end of the task and create backups.
