Developed for the Google Desktop platform, Google Moon phase is a small gadget that can display the current phase of the moon directly on your desktop. It can be easily installed and configured, even by less experienced users. The interface of the app is based on a small frame which shows an image of the moon and its current phase. Unfortunately, Google Moon phase does not come with configurable settings. But, thanks to some features provided by Google Desktop, you can make some adjustments. For example, you can undock the frame from the sidebar but you cannot move Google Moon phase to any position on the screen. The best case scenario is that you can rescale the picture. By accessing the menu when clicking the down arrow, you can collapse the frame and find out the age of the current phase, make it stay on top of other windows, as well as zoom or hide the tool in the sidebar. The small application does not put a strain on the computer's resources because it runs on a very low amount of CPU and system memory. It has a good response time and didn't cause the operating system to freeze, crash or pop up error dialogs during our tests. Too bad its features are limited; Google Moon phase has not been updated for a long while.
