Gifsicle Description

Gifsicle can also extract frames from animations and crop the whole image to the desired dimensions. The application normally processes input GIF files according to its command line options and writes the result to the standard output. The -i option, for example, tells Gifsicle to interlace its inputs. Main features: Batch mode for changing GIFs in place. Prints detailed information about GIFs, including comments. Control over interlacing, comments, looping, transparency... Creates well-behaved GIFs: removes redundant colors, only uses local color tables if it absolutely has to (local color tables waste space and can cause viewing artifacts), etc. It can shrink color maps and change images to use the Web-safe palette (or any color map you choose).
