GLO Maker Description

GLO Maker is a lightweight Air-based software application, also known as Generative Learning Object Maker, specialized in providing an interactive learning environment. This authoring tool can be used for educational purposes by lecturers or teachers for helping them create online resources, more specifically multimedia learning objects that can be run on the web. Intuitive layout When you run the utility for the first time, you are given the freedom to select between several pedagogical patterns to base your project on. The tool makes use of projects for storing your configuration settings and multimedia learning objects, and allows you to save the projects to a file for later use. GLO Maker includes three main modules for helping you define your project, namely Planner (this is the place where you can set the initial orientation, apprehension and comprehension concepts, and usage), Designer (you can enter the text for each objective), and Preview window (you can see how your project looks like in its final stage). Working with the PlannerYou are given the freedom to choose between EASA (Explain and Show Amplified) and eMI (Evaluate Multiple Interpretations) pedagogical patterns, or specify your own pattern. For example, if you opt for building up an EASA project, you can use the Planner for introducing the topic to the learner, attracting interest in the topic, specifying the reasons why it’s important to learn the topic, helping the learner to gain an overall apprehension of the topic (without getting into details), and enabling the learner to analyze and understand the key aspects of the topic. Additionally, you may add user-defined text in the Planner in order to define what the function is doing. Each learning objective has a different color and is linked to another one using simple lines. You can use the drag-and-drop support for moving objects from one place to another, as well as create linking nodes between them. Working with the DesignerThe Designer gives you the possibility to enter a title and a short introductory paragraph that states what the learning object is all about. Additionally, you can customize the text in terms of font, size, color and alignment. You can choose between different layouts which are suitable for various learning scenarios. You can display a page with a title, an image and custom text, a multiple choice quiz with text alongside it, a page with just a title, or other options. Components may be added, such as 360 compass panorama, Flash animation, image loader, image magnifier, matching quiz, MP3 player, popup, text area, slide link, rectangle shape, video player, and several other objects.
