The converter can only output files to two formats: MPEG-4 and H.264, the two native formats of most Apple products, but they are also playable on an array of other devices. Free iPod Video Converter by Topviewsoft is a very basic converter. It doesn't have a video player or any editors of any kind. It doesn't use any conversion profiles to help you with the conversion to different devices. It simply gives you the option of choosing the codec used and a resolution, which you choose from a drop-down menu. In terms of performance, this tool doesn't let down. In my testing, I used an FLV file and converted it into an H.264 MP4 file which played on my video players with no problems. I used the default settings for that format. All in all, although the application is basic and lacks some of the features that other converters come with by default these days, I am willing to forgive it, because it works really well, and that is all I need from a free video converter.
