File Warden Description

From PC Magazine : You may have a network with a firewall and Windows XP SP2 comes with its own protection, but while these are good to have, what if your system still gets compromised? Wouldn't you be happier knowing that even if someone did hack your computer he couldn't access the data in your important files? File Warden offers that none-too-small comfort by allowing you to encrypt and securely delete your precious files. File Warden 2 continues this tradition and adds further enhancements. Here's a list of new features: ? You can now create a main password, which, if enabled, requires you to enter a password before being able to run File Warden. ? You can also set a default password that will be used each time File Warden encrypts a file. Or if you prefer you can choose the option to "Remember encryption password," which will fill out the first password field in the encryption password dialog with the last encryption password you used in that field. ? We've added the option to append the File Warden extension (.fwdn) onto all encrypted files. With this option enabled, double-clicking an encrypted file prompts you to enter a password and begins decryption of the file. ? There is now an option that allows you to select whether files in the following folders can be encrypted: Windows, System, Program Files, Fonts, Desktop, and Cookies. ? We've added the ability to monitor file and folder changes. File Warden 2 can write to a log when files or folders are added, changed or deleted and it can provide a popup alert if you choose.
