Expression Buddy Description

The Expression Buddy application interprets any custom math expression containing up to 51 variables. The user enters the expression and assigns values to the variables, their standard uncertainties, and degrees of freedom. If two or more variables are covariant the user may enter the degree of covariance. EB then: 1.) calculates the value of the expression, 2.) displays the standard uncertainty of that value (based on the standard uncertainties of the variables) 3.) calculates the desired coverage range and 4.) provides a stepwise, textual audit report of the result, the uncertainty, and the coverage calculations. Variables entered into expressions may represent: 1.) values which convey their accuracy by the way they are expressed (Type B evaluation), 2.) values which are known exactly, 3.) values whose uncertainty is represented by a rectangular probability curve (Type B evaluation), 4.) the statistical result of a number of trials (Type A evaluation). The user can paste custom math expression from a text file or word processing document. Thus the user can create a library of custom math expressions. The audit report may be printed to the default printer or pasted into a word processing document for inclusion in the user's own reports.
