Elevation Mapper Elevation Map Creator, Global Elevation Data A unique application to create customized digital elevation maps. Plots are automatically georeferenced in KML files. The results can be viewed in GIS applications such as Google Earth or ArcGIS. A CSV file is created which provides the elevation data or creation of 3D surface plots. Elevation Mapper is a simple to use, application to create customized digital elevation maps. You simply enter the north, south, east and west boundaries of your site, the required delta between elevation contours and the desired output files. This version of Elevation Mapper provides full global coverage for digital elevation data. The elevation data is from the ASTER GDEM V2 project . The ASTER GDEM coverage spans from 83 degrees north latitude to 83 degrees south, encompassing 99 percent of Earth's landmass. The outputs included georeferenced contour maps, csv elevation data files and elevation contour plot images. The improved GDEM V2 adds 260,000 additional stereo-pairs, improving coverage and reducing the occurrence of artifacts compared to GDEM V1. The refined production algorithm provides improved spatial resolution, increased horizontal and vertical accuracy, and superior water body coverage and detection. The ASTER GDEM V2 maintains the GeoTIFF format and the same gridding and tile structure as V1, with 1 arc-second (30m) grid of elevation postings and 1 x 1 degree tiles. The elevation file database contains 27,695 gdem files. The absolute vertical elevation accuracy was benchmarked from 0.12 to 5.0 metres and from -0.20 to -2.27 metres. The accuracy varies according to a number of factors, particularly the type of vegetation cover.
