ERS GeoSHP Description

ERS GeoSHP allows you to turn bitmap images into a geo-referenced map files that can be loaded in to numerous GIS and mapping application programs. You can use a downloaded aerial photo, scanned image of a paper map, or even a screen capture saved as a JPG or BMP and use it with ERS GeoSHP to create a "world" file that allows it to be loaded as a map. The "world" file was introduced by ESRI as a way to geo-reference images so that they could be displayed as a raster map. The "world" file is a separate file that accompanies the original image file which the mapping software automatically reads when you load the image file as a map. It tells the software where the image is located and how to display it. With ERS GeoSHP you'll be able to create your map files in no time!
